This 8-mile-long barrier island, just north of Marco Island, is a sanctuary for wildlife and a fantastic recreational destination. The beautiful sandy beaches stretching along the island are perfect for Marco Island shelling and offer a great opportunity to experience Florida’s natural coast. Keewaydin is a vital nesting ground for Least Terns and Loggerhead Sea Turtles, so you may even spot some nesting activity!
Located north of Tigertail Beach, Sand Dollar Island is breathtakingly beautiful and abundant with wonderful seashells. This is a prime spot for Naples shelling, where you can regularly see a variety of Florida’s beach-nesting shorebirds that face conservation challenges, including the Snowy Plover, Least Tern, and American Oyster Catcher.
